The place is nice to hang out with friends and have some drinks, there is a good vibe bailando cumbia, and there is Karaoke. If you are familiar with Central American music you will love it. The place is very welcoming and there is no dress code which I love. The drinks were good and at a very good price. To eat I had yucca con Chicharron, the food (the cassava w/ pork)was good but needed a little bit more seasoning it was very bland. Overall great service and I would recommend.

The food is good here the times I've been. I've only come in the day time. During the day, it's not crowded. I've had some dinner celebrations here because of that. It is dimly lit. They're cool with it if it's in daytime because they reserve their nights because they get busy. The photos are how we set it up for a small celebration for 20 people. Apparently it's really busy at night for music & dancing. Mostly Central American focused but they play all genres on Hispanic music. I think it's an older Hispanic prominent crowd. The pupusas are pretty tasty. Good size, the good kind of greasy (!). I've had their combo plates with carne asada, beans, rice, side salad. It was better than expected. But they were out of avocados and horchata when we ordered it. The restaurant is ornate but dated at the same time. Wished they'd pay more attention to bathrooms though. All in all, good place, will return, day and maybe even night!

I will recommend this place for many reasons. The vibe in this place is amazing, food is delicious, and the music is always a big plus. You can enjoy your food and dance afterwards. San Salvador Restaurante, great option if you want to dance until 2am. Highly recommended. Try it. =======>>>>> Escobar <<<<<======

San Salvador Restaurant - Los Angeles offers an inviting taste of Central America right in the heart of LA at 1828 Vermont Ave. This spot stands out for its warm, welcoming atmosphere where friends and families gather not just to eat, but to create lasting memories. The vibe pulses with authentic Central American energy—complete with cumbia music and lively karaoke nights—that brings an unmatched cultural rhythm to the dining experience.

The culinary offerings here evoke comforting nostalgia with dishes that feel like a homecoming. The pupusas are a highlight: generous, satisfyingly greasy in the best way, and perfectly capturing that traditional flavor profile. Their combo plates, featuring carne asada, rice, beans, and fresh salads, provide a well-rounded meal that’s hearty and honest. While some dishes like the yucca con chicharron might benefit from a bit more seasoning, the unique flavors still shine through, reflecting the authenticity of the kitchen’s roots.

Service at San Salvador is consistently praised—friendly, attentive, and part of what makes each visit enjoyable. The space itself has an ornate, slightly vintage charm that adds character, though some elements like the bathrooms could use a bit more care. Daytime visits offer a quieter setting suitable for small celebrations and casual dining, while nights come alive with music, dancing, and a vibrant mix of Hispanic genres appealing to an older, culturally rich crowd.

Overall, San Salvador Restaurant feels like more than just a place to eat—it's a cultural hub where the rich flavors of Central America are celebrated in a lively, friendly environment. It’s a place that invites you to linger over good food and drinks with good company, and I find myself eager to return, both to savor the familiar and to embrace the dynamic nightlife that complements the culinary experience.
